Friday-Sitting Figurine & Easy 3D Flex Workshop

Making a fabric sculpture allows complete freedom of expression in creating wonderful figurines that have their own individuality and presence. First a wire armature is constructed, ‘mummified’ and then ‘dressed’ and draped with fabric dipped into the fabric hardener Powertex.  We guide you step by step to transform your armature into a unique sculpture. Whether you are a beginner or advanced artist, you’ll love this workshop.

A plaster figurine (Suma) and Styrofoam are the basic materials to start this unique project. Easy 3Dflex (which is an organic filling compound) will be mixed with Powertex to get sculpting clay. When applied on our figure we will press very detailed prints into the surface, with rope, screws, buttons, stencils, etc...This way you get the most amazing effects. We deepen the color by spraying Bister, which is a brown patina. Once dried to the air or heat source cracks appears and it gets rock hard. Our artwork is mounted on a beautiful black metal base.

Saturday-Standing Figurine & Animal Workshop

What is more inspiring than Nature and Animal Kingdom?  These 2 projects come from our Animal Kingdom Book.  After making a frame we will bring our animal alive by applying air dry clay (mix of Powertex and Stone Art). The second layer of the Scottish Highlander is made with cotton dread, while the second layer around the neck and head of the Bison is made of a layer of Easy 3Dflex clay.  To finish we dry brush with Bronze Gold.

For the standing figurine we start with a plaster torso and hands. It will be mounted on a beautiful black metal base so it looks very professional

Sunday-Mixed Media on Canvas Workshop

No acrylics or oils needed to create a one of a kind Mixed Media.   Learn to paint with an environmental friendly polymer and create textures, crackle effects and much more. You can bring stamps or templates to press detailed prints into the surface. 20” x 20” gallery wrapped canvas provided

Workshops Policies : Half-day, full-day, multi-day workshops, and special events are scheduled throughout the year. Once you purchase a workshop you will be enrolled.

Due to limited class size, purchased spots for all workshops are transferable but payment is non-refundable. What this means: If you buy a class spot and are unable to attend, and if there is a waiting list of students that has formed, we will put you in contact with the first person on the list to whom you can offer your class spot. If the person on the list accepts, then that person will need to pay you for your spot and once that transaction is complete and both parties are satisfied, we will transfer your spot to the other person. If you are unable to attend and there is no waiting list, we will unfortunately be unable to provide refunds.

Emergency Cancelations : In the very rare event of an emergency or unavoidable natural disaster or act of God, the class may be cancelled. In this situation, all fees will be reimbursed to students in full.

If you would like to enroll in a workshop that has been sold out, please send an email to bill@donnadowney.com and you will be put on a waiting list.
