The Art of the Journal Workshop with Pam Garrison March 13-15th 2015

The Art of the Journal Workshop with Pam Garrison

Come join us as we embark on a weekend of colorful, playful, art journaling fun. Whether you currently make art journals, or have just begun to think about doing so, this class is appropriate, and no previous journaling, bookmaking, painting, or art skills are required. All you need is a desire to create and play and you'll leave with a beautiful new art journal handmade by you, and many pages of play and exploration begun in it. These art journals are great places to explore and develop your other art practices too. Pam uses hers them for color exploration, designing, painting, sketching, lettering etc. not just art journaling, which is a creative end in of itself, of course!

We'll make gorgeous paper to wrap our journal cover with, and we'll learn a traditional long stitch binding method to bind delicious watercolor paper signatures inside our books, creating a striking, unique, completed one of a kind journal to play and explore in, and the knowledge of how to make your own art journals evermore. Then we'll get to the page play. She'll demo all her favorite tools and products, both longstanding favorites and new products and processes discovered just this year, and you'll get to try them out while creating in your art journal to see if you might want to include them in your art making practice regularly. We'll cover paints, backgrounds, markers, pens, lettering, collage, prompts, methods, and try a few exercises that will surely leave you with new ideas and a renewed desire to continue to create, especially in an art journal! We'll have a flexible schedule to allow for student interest and questions to lead the way as to be sure to get your most burning questions about art journaling answered. You are sure to leave inspired to continue creating and art journaling with some new tools and techniques added to your creative toolbox!

Workshops Policies
Half-day, full-day, multi-day workshops, and special events are scheduled throughout the year. Once you purchase a workshop you will be enrolled.

If you would like to enroll in a workshop that has been sold out, please send an email to and you will be put on a waiting list.

Due to limited class size, purchased spots for all workshops are transferable but payment is non-refundable.

What this means: If you buy a class spot and are unable to attend, and if there is a waiting list of students that has formed, we will put you in contact with the first person on the list to whom you can offer your class spot. If the person on the list accepts, then that person will need to pay you for your spot and once that transaction is complete and both parties are satisfied, we will transfer your spot to the other person. If you are unable to attend and there is no waiting list, we will unfortunately be unable to provide refunds.

Emergency Cancelations
In the very rare event of an emergency or unavoidable natural disaster or act of God, the class may be cancelled. In this situation, all fees will be reimbursed to students in full.
