THREE MIXED MEDIA PAINTING PROJECTS—“Joy of Acrylic Painting”!

Get out of the box with some innovative techniques for expressing your vision with paint and mixed media with three exciting projects from the best-selling new book “The Joy of Acrylic Painting”.

  • AERIAL ABSTRACTION Translate an aerial photo such as a Google map into an expressive abstract mixed media painting.
  • EXPRESSIVE MIXED MEDIA FIGURE Create a figurative collage incorporating a freely painted mixed media background, photos, paint and collage paper of all kinds.
  • LANDSCAPE COLLAGE Translate a landscape scene to its component shapes and colors and express the mood with collage and paint!

Annie asks students to Bring:

Collage paper: Bring some paper to share with the group, whatever you have on hand-newsprint, wrapping paper, tissue paper, old letters, junk mail, candy wrappers-anything!

Other*scissors*apron*paper towels*disposable palette sheets*spray bottle for water*water container- large plastic yogurt container works great! 

*I will bring lots of inspiration photos and collage materials but do look around and bring what you have!

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Annie is a full-time professional painter in Santa Fe, NM. She shows her work in galleries across the country and teaches painting workshops in her Canyon Road studio, at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Ghost Ranch and other venues across the country.

Annie authored “Bold Expressive Painting-Painting Techniques for Still Lifes, Florals and Landscapes in Mixed Media,” and three videos on expressive mixed media painting through Northlight Books in 2016. Her second book “The Joy of Acrylic Painting: Expressive Painting Techniques for Beginners” will be published in November, 2017.
