Sharon DiGiulio - Experimental Encaustic Collage Workshop

Friday May 25th 2018: 10:00am-5:00pm
Saturday May 26th 2018: 10:00am-5:00pm
Sunday May 27th 2018:: 10:00am-2:00pm

Workshop Description:

This workshop is very experimental. If you are a collage artist or love encaustics or a little of both or are completely new to this game of encaustic and collage – come on out and have some fun! This class is all about trying some new techniques, discovering a new medium and just meeting others that have the same zest for creativity! We will be working with paper and panels, encaustic medium, paints and heat guns. We will carve, dip and layer paint while working with a variety of papers and collage items.

All materials, equipment and paint will be provided.

You may want to bring along a selection of items that mean something to you to incorporate into your work such as photos, collage parts and pieces, old paintings, wire, beads, buttons, magazines, postcards etc. We will make new art out of found objects and give them new life through encaustic!

Come and join in the fun!

Artist Bio:

Sharon DiGiulio is a multi-media artist living and working in Raleigh, North Carolina. She currently runs her own business, DiGiulio Project, LLC, teaches workshops in and around the area in Acrylic Collage, Mixed Media and Encaustic and is the director of Art of the Carolinas, the largest consumer art supply and workshop expo in the country.

Sharon’s passion for experimentation and exploration allows her to dive into several different media and just see what happens! Trained professionally as a printmaker and graphic artist, mixed media offers a freedom in making art with no boundaries. “I love to push the envelope in making my art, trying to create something that is all my own. I believe that is the greatest thing about art is that you really get the chance to express yourself as you wish and you don’t need to justify it. I truly enjoy the process of getting into that zone in my studio, playing some music and just letting go. That is the true joy of being an artist. I’ve learned to throw all that judgment out the window and express my individuality”.

Sharon shares her home and studio with her husband, Joe DiGiulio, also an artist.

Donna Downey Studios Workshops Policies :

Half-day, full-day, multi-day workshops, and special events are scheduled throughout the year. Once you purchase a workshop you will be enrolled.

Due to limited class size, purchased spots for all workshops are transferable but payment is non-refundable. What this means: If you buy a class spot and are unable to attend, and if there is a waiting list of students that has formed, we will put you in contact with the first person on the list to whom you can offer your class spot. If the person on the list accepts, then that person will need to pay you for your spot and once that transaction is complete and both parties are satisfied, we will transfer your spot to the other person. If you are unable to attend and there is no waiting list, we will unfortunately be unable to provide refunds.

Emergency Cancellations : In the very rare event of an emergency or unavoidable natural disaster or act of God, the class may be cancelled. In this situation, all fees will be reimbursed to students in full.

If you would like to enroll in a workshop that has been sold out, please send an email to and you will be put on a waiting list.
