    Watercolor Abstracts Workshop

    Sterling Edwards,CSPWC, TWSA, WPA, NWS

                That’s right; I said abstracts, the big “A” word. Have you ever considered branching out and doing something different? Well, here’s your chance. Join renowned artist Sterling Edwards and delve into the world of abstract painting. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not as easy as it sounds. This is Sterling’s favorite style of painting because it allows him to be totally creative. Most of the time we, as artists, use some form of reference material when we paint. We are either in the field doing plein air painting or in a studio painting from a photograph. In other words, we are copying something that inspires us. Not so with abstract painting. Many refer to abstract painting as the purest form of artistic expression because we are actually creating as opposed to copying. Combine that with the fact that abstract art is fun and extremely popular these days and you’ve got a winning combination. .

     Monday - Thursday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    One hour lunch break daily

    ****All supplies are included****

                In this workshop you’ll learn how to find exciting designs for an abstract painting. You will also learn many of the basics that Sterling uses in his paintings designs such as;

    Building a strong composition

    Using Expressive colors

    Glazing techniques

    Specific techniques for building exciting textures

    The importance of off register calligraphy to build dimension in your painting

    The difference between Representational Abstract and Abstract Expressionism

    How to overlap shapes to create drama

    And so much more

                If you’re in a rut, tired of copying everyone else, need to rekindle your creativity, need to have some fun, and are ready to go outside of the envelope, then this is your workshop!
