Danielle Donaldson "ADVANCED" Workshop | GLASS (still life studies) | Feb 12-13th, 2017

Product Description

Danielle Donaldson is coming back to Donna Downey Studios for a another new & exciting workshop!

Workshop Title: GLASS (still life studies) | Master Class

Description: If you are ready to learn about perspective drawing and adding dimension to your watercolors, I hope you’ll come to my new master-level workshop, GLASS (still life studies)

We’ll spend our first day strengthening our drawing and watercolor skills. I will demonstrate one-point perspective drawing, adding depth with color, and atmospheric perspective. My demonstrations will be followed by exercises to help you understand the concepts from my demonstrations. In the afternoon, we’ll study the concepts of still-life composition and the importance of white space in my work specifically with a demonstration. We’ll end the day with bell-jar and mason jar drawing and painting practice and a discussion about how to add imagination (like blossoms/houses on stilts/colored pencils) to your illustrations. (Don’t be surprised if I give you homework!)

On our second day, we’ll build mini still-life studies and dive right in! I will kick off the day with a start-to-finish demonstration/discussion of an imaginative still life. We’ll then spend the remainder of the day working on our still-life watercolor illustrations. I will be available for the whole day offering critiques/solutions of your work to help you improve your skills and grow your art.

This class is recommended for intermediate to advanced artists (familiar/comfortable with watercolor and good drawing skills) who are ready to take their skills up a notch and want to learn in a critique-based environment rather than a project-based workshop. This class will NOT include instruction on basic drawing or watercolor.

Techniques and skills included are: perspective drawing, color-choice perspective, atmospheric perspective, adding light and shadow with watercolors, composition and white space, drawing and painting glass

Danielle's art always tells a story without words through her use of color, depth and light. Some say it’s whimsical; she says it’s fanciful with a smidge of sassy. Danielle is the author of ‘creativeGIRL: mixed media projects for an artful life’ which contains a plethora of goodness about her art and process. In her free time, you can find her in ‘the dorm room’ playing with art supplies and imagining up new creative stuff to share.

Due to limited class size, purchased spots for all workshops are transferable but payment is non-refundable. What this means: If you buy a class spot and are unable to attend, and if there is a waiting list of students that has formed, we will put you in contact with the first person on the list to whom you can offer your class spot. If the person on the list accepts, then that person will need to pay you for your spot and once that transaction is complete and both parties are satisfied, we will transfer your spot to the other person. If you are unable to attend and there is no waiting list, we will unfortunately be unable to provide refunds.

Emergency Cancellations : In the very rare event of an emergency or unavoidable natural disaster or act of God, the class may be cancelled. In this situation, all fees will be reimbursed to students in full.
