July 30th - August 2nd, 2020
Are you inspired by children’s book illustrations? Have you ever wanted to create and illustrate your very own character or storybook scene? I have always loved collecting children’s books filled with illustrations that captures the reader’s attention and ignites their imagination. Join me for a workshop that will walk you through the process of writing a few inspirational snippets and illustrating a storybook page! I will share with you some of my personal visual storytelling techniques and approaches. This course is all about learning from others and turning it into something of your very own. A necessary creative process that will help you develop good habits , refine your illustrative watercolor skills and learn new creative techniques that will help you figure out YOUR style.
Throughout the course we will have a wide variety of fun exercises and engaging activities, all tailored to support you and your creative process. While all levels of artists are free to attend, some basic watercolor experience is very helpful to ensure you get the most out of the process.
In this workshop, we have access to Donna’s amazing studio and all the classroom supplies that come with it! This is a MIXED-MEDIA workshop with a giant dose of pencil work and watercolor.
· Oh, and if watercolor isn’t your thing but you love my art, you can play with acrylic, inks, gouache, pens, etc. - this will be a true mixed-media experience!
· If you have a go-to medium you love, I highly encourage you to bring your favorites like a set of pens, inks or paints. While it’s always amazing to play with all sorts of goodness in Donna’s classroom, sometimes it makes your learning curve a bit easier when you use your stuff.
· Oh, and this applies to your watercolors too! A beautiful limited-palette of Daniel Smith watercolors will be supplied, but feel free to bring your own expanded palette to get the most out of the weekend!
