The series is about expression, feeling, indulgence, freedom, exposure, power, and release. Expelling the energy caught tightly between the white knuckling through life’s inertia and the balance of control of internal and external chaos. Feeling, allowing, enjoying, experiencing, living, wanting, needing, shedding the skin that once caged the person I was, emerging as the person I was always meant to become.  

9-Letter Word is a visual excavation of what it means to reclaim oneself after years of carrying what was never meant to be held alone. The figure lies in a protective curl, embodying the moment when survival instinct shifts into awakening. This work reflects the deeply human process of shedding inherited weight, responsibility, hurt, and the silent burdens we take on in order to stay whole. It is a portrait of release, a turning inward that mirrors our return to the most elemental parts of ourselves, where truth and healing first take root.

Created as part of a personal journey through twelve stages of letting go, this piece recognizes the body as sacred ground. Just as the Earth asks us to tend, repair, and restore, 9-Letter Word invites reflection on how we restore our own inner landscapes after long seasons of erosion. It honors the courage it takes to unearth what was buried, to see ourselves clearly, and to rise from what we have endured. It is both a reckoning and a renewal, a testament to the fierce responsibility of choosing to heal for ourselves and for the world we move through.
