In this online workshop, we’ll take the same face and explore what happens when we change our approach. We’ll play with acrylics, oil pastels, collage, stencils, and a colored pencil or two, building five portraits with personalities all their own.

Color gets to have plenty of fun, but value is the secret that holds it all together. Knowing where to put your lights and darks helps you define features, create depth, and gives you the freedom to get a little adventurous with everything else.

You’ll get the original image and a printable sketch, so you can spend less time drawing and more time playing with the possibilities. Along the way, you’ll gather ideas for those “now what?” moments and discover just how many possibilities can start with one face.
